Research
Research visuals is a qualitative research methodology that is used to produce and represent knowledge. We do this by using the latest techniques such as advanced tracking systems, satellites, high-tech measurement instruments in combination with modern computer techniques.
Our themes
We advance fundamental understanding of marine systems, the way they change, the role they play in climate and biodiversity, and how they may provide sustainable solutions to society in the future.

Research projects
NIOZ research projects investigate important processes in estuarine and delta areas, coastal seas and oceans. We distinguish between projects studying fundamental scientific issues and frontier-applied research in public-private partnerships. The results of our research projects are published in internationally leading scientific journals and, in case of applied research, in NIOZ reports.

The NIOZ Repository provides access to the institute’s research output. It contains over three thousand journal articles, books, PhD theses, and other materials published since 2011.
