I use computer models to predict the consequences of human activities in the sea before they become irreversible. With knowledge about water movements and reactions between chemical substances, I want to understand the relationships between living species in the sea. I conduct research into the effect of fishing on the release of greenhouse gases from the seabed. I also investigated how mussel and seaweed farms in the Oosterschelde and offshore wind farms influence the distribution of nutrients in the water. And thus life in the water.
