To better understand the Earth's climate, I am researching how water mixes in the oceans. There are various water currents in the oceans that distribute heat and salt throughout the water, for example. Climate models can take into account large currents, such as tides, whirlpools hundreds of kilometers in diameter, or deep, undulating layers of water. However, the models are not yet able to accurately calculate the influence of smaller movements, such as waves of a few meters. Even though these are also important for mixing water. I want to know what effect these small currents have and hopefully incorporate them into climate models.
